about VHC

Welcome to Voice of Hope Chapel Calgary!

At VHC, our mission is simple: Giving Hope, Saving Lives.

Who We Are

One of our core values is Church Planting. Voice of Hope Chapel is a branch of Voice of Victory Gospel Church International, Ghana, and marks the 10th church plant in this growing ministry.

Our Vision

We exist to offer hope and lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our founding pastors, Bishop Justice Joe Arhinful and Rose Vera Arhinful, dedicated over 30 years of their lives to this mission. After serving for 14 years as a district overseer in Nigeria, Bishop Arhinful, along with his wife and six children, returned to Ghana and planted the church. Since then, the ministry has expanded beyond Ghana’s borders, transforming lives worldwide.

After our Founding Bishop transitioned to heaven, today, Bishop Isaac Arhinful carries the mantle, leading with faith, compassion, and a deep love for God’s work and the vision of our church. Under his leadership, we remain committed to spreading the gospel, building strong communities, and bringing hope to the nations.

Our Calling

We are deeply committed to Jesus' Great Commission:

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” — Matthew 28:19-20

We believe we are called to train, equip, and empower leaders, send them out, and build God's church. At VHC, we are not just a church—we are a movement dedicated to transforming lives for God's glory.

OUR BELIEFS

Our Beliefs
  1. The Bible – We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, the ultimate authority in faith, doctrine, and Christian living. It serves to teach, correct, encourage, and edify believers.

    • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

    • Psalm 119:105 – "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."

  2. Jesus Christ – We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, who is both fully God and fully man. He died for our sins, rose bodily on the third day, ascended to heaven, and now intercedes as our High Priest and Advocate.

    • Matthew 1:23 – "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means 'God with us')."

    • 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 – "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures."

    • Hebrews 4:14-16 – "Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess."

  3. The Holy Spirit – We believe in the power, outpouring, and gifts of the Holy Spirit for the edification of the church.

    • Acts 1:8 – "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

    • 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 – "Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good... to one is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge... to another faith... to another gifts of healing... to another miraculous powers... to another prophecy..."

  4. Church Leadership – We believe in the five-fold ministry offices as described in Ephesians 4:11 for the equipping of believers and the growth of the church.

    • Ephesians 4:11-12 – "So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up."

  5. Salvation – We believe that salvation is a free gift from God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, apart from human works.

    • Ephesians 2:8-9 – "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast."

    • Romans 10:9 – "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

  6. Healing & Prayer – We believe in Christ’s redemptive work for the healing of the body and in prayer for the sick, including anointing with oil as instructed in Scripture.

    • Isaiah 53:5 – "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed."

    • James 5:14-15 – "Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up."

  7. The Great Commission – We believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the universal Church and has commissioned us to preach the Gospel to all nations.

    • Matthew 28:19-20 – "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

  8. Baptism & Communion – We believe in baptism by immersion and in the Lord’s Supper as a memorial of Christ’s suffering and death.

    • Romans 6:4 – "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."

    • Luke 22:19-20 – "And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, 'This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.' In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.'"

  9. Christ’s Return – We believe in the imminent and glorious return of Jesus Christ, which inspires believers to live passionately in service to Him.

    • 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 – "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air."

    • Titus 2:13 – "While we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ."

  10. Prayer – We believe the church is called to continual prayer.

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."

  • Philippians 4:6 – "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

11. Inclusion – We believe the church is for all—multi-generational, multi-ethnic, and open to people of all backgrounds, regardless of gender, social, or economic status.

  • Galatians 3:28 – "There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

  • Revelation 7:9 – "After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb."

These foundational beliefs shape who we are as a church and guide our mission to bring hope, healing, and salvation to all.
